What Our Clients are Saying About Us:

"Brian, just wanted to thank you for my new deck you and Caleb built for us!  It's solid, beautiful, and the attention to detail makes it a functional work of art for my backyard.  You guys were professional and offered good info and advice on future care for the deck, in person and by email.  And to top it off, you went above and beyond cleaning up and leaving the whole yard better than when you found it.  Awesome work!"

-Ron Flores, October 2015 - Kent

"Milam Fencing has been great to deal with.  Brian was very flexible and worked with us to find the best solution to fit the budget we had available to complete the project.  He showed up on time, every time and completed the jobs on schedule.  We were so happy with the first project, we ended up having him replace fences at two more stations.  He has proven to be a great local contractor to add to our small works roster."

       - Station 80, 81, and 82, Maple Valley Fire & Life Safety, 2014 & 2015 - Maple Valley, Ravensdale

"We had Milam Fencing do partial fencing of our 2.5 acre property, which included a custom cedar fence and gates on one portion, black twisted wire and cedar on another portion, chain link on a third portion, plus multiple farm gates throughout the property.  They also put up a black chain link fence with a few gates at our smaller home a couple years ago.  Brian and Caleb did an amazing job.  The fences look great and are exactly what we were looking for.  Everyone who has come by has complimented how great it looks!    They were prompt and professional and had excellent communication throughout the project.  We found the bid to be very competitive and the project was completed in the estimated time frame.  We will absolutely recommend Milam Fencing to all of our friends and family needing fences, decks or pergolas.  We're even having them come back for more work this fall... can't wait to have them build our pergola and patio swing."

       - Clark & Brooke S., July 2015 & August 2013 - Whidbey Island, Lynnwood

"Milam Fencing completed two projects for me.  The first was a beautifully hand-crafted and stained 9 foot tall, 12' x 8' pergola with a gorgeous flagstone floor beneath.  This was constructed for a wedding and was a stunning focal point for the ceremony and an awesome addition to my back yard.  It is now home to several Clematis and Honeysuckle vines . The second project was a custom 8 foot tall 10' x 5' cedar garden box with trellises.  I have since planted a myriad of vegetables and flowers.  The trellis portion has supported several Black-eyed Susan plants, tomato plants, and hanging plants on the longer portion.  With each project the workmanship was precise, and the materials nearly flawless.  Brian has built a reputation customers can rely upon and trust, from their bid to completion.... Very happy to recommend them!"

"Because Brian and his crew do excellent work, we would highly recommend Milam Fencing for any fencing need. Brian is knowledgeable, capable, and efficient.  He pays attention to detail and the result is a useful, beautiful fence that demonstrates his skill. Brian is easy to work with.  He offers good solutions to difficulties that arise and is even open to changes and challenges to the plan as needed.  In short, he works with you to build a beautiful fence.  In fact, everyone who visits our updated, nearly two acre Milam fenced farm, immediately comments about the great Milam constructed fence. Also, a Milam fence is worth the wait!  Due to the quality of his work, Brian is in high demand, so call him and get on his schedule ASAP!"
       - Ed Duggan, June 2015 - Edgewood

"Greatly appreciate the wonderful work that was provided. We had two cedar gates put in as well as a chain link fence that were done to the highest quality. We were on a short time frame to get our fence in place, which you were able to accommodate. You went above and beyond what was expected. Even when the job was done you helped in recommendations for other areas to finish our project. Highly recommend your service to my family and friends, and look forward to working with you again for future projects. Thank you."
       - Jason & Melissa Taylor, March 2015 - Maple Valley

"It was a great experience working with Brian and the Milam Fencing crew.  From design to completion the communication was great and the quality even better.  Between building new front and back decks at our rental property, and re-fencing our new neighborhood, they've produced consistent, top quality craftsmanship and are my 'go-to' for any future project needs."

-John C., September & October 2014 - Lake Forest Park, Lake Stevens

"Brian kept in touch by phone and email throughout my large project, did what he said he would do, and went above and beyond what was expected of him--this is what I have now come to think of as the “Brian Standard.”  He was such a pleasure to work with.  He's an excellent person and I am very glad to know him!”

Each piece of lumber we use on your fence and gates, besides the posts, are milled from local Western Red Cedar Trees.  Unless a client specifically requests, we try to stay away from using pressure-treated (Douglas or Hemlock Fir) framing.  While it is a slightly less-expensive option, it has the propensity to shrink, warp, and crack.  In addition, it just does not last as long as Western Red Cedar - a harder, stronger, more dense wood product. We also make every effort to utilize local suppliers for wood, composite decking, chain link, ornamental metal, vinyl, and other metal.

When it comes to cedar privacy fencing, we use "jumbo" posts.  These posts measure a full 4-1/8" x 4-1/8" instead of the standard fence posts, measuring 3-1/2" x 3-1/2".  We also dry pour, mix water, and compact our concrete in the post hole, and then take the time to mound the top of each and every concrete post footing, so water drains away from the post - this is the proper way to ensure long-lasting and durable fence posts.  This step if often skipped by many in order to guarantee future work, or because it can be somewhat time-consuming.  At Milam Fencing, LLC, we take this step very seriously. Harsh weather, especially the rain and wind native to our Pacific Northwest home, can be unforgiving to improperly constructed fence posts, the backbone of your fence.

Another way we set ourselves apart from other fence builders is with the construction of our cedar gates - our speciality! Each gate is constructed with a full, four-sided, diagonally-braced cedar frame (instead of a typical "Z" frame), and assembled with premium 3-1/2" decking screws (in place of nails).  Each of our gates is installed with

powder-coated black hardware, including our 'one-of-a-kind' gate hinges. Each of our hinges is fully adjustable.  They also 'hug' two sides of the post and gate frame, instead of typical hinges, which can only be installed on one side.  They are a must for gate longevity, functionality, and for making periodic adjustments due atmospheric temperature changes.  We are so confident you will be happy with the workmanship, quality, and durability of our fences and gates, we are pleased to offer an industry-leading 5-year labor warranty.

We are also happy to supply and install chain link or "cyclone" fencing, as well as ornamental metal and vinyl.  As with cedar fencing, there are many style variations available to you with these products.  Our chain link and ornamental metal products are supplied locally, by our provider in Kent.

Another popular fence style for clients with livestock is welded or twisted wire, and farm gates with wire mesh fill.  These products are also supplied locally, by our provider in Auburn.  Depending on job-site location, availability, required parts, and project scope, we utilize various local supply companies to complete your project.
